I absolutely love this timeless modern take on Northern Italian cuisine. Their recent Michelin Guide designation comes at no surprise. A Denver staple in fine dining for years has tremendous staying power and support amongst locals.
The Food
Barolo has iterated its menus over the years and decided to keep their Covid menu, allowing customers to choose a 3 course meal with Starter, pasta course, entree and Dessert courses. It's a great way to taste a ton of the menu and it really is a good amount of food for the pricing. You can always go a la carte as well. During our many visits, we've enjoyed classic dishes like Spaghetti Bolognese, Corn Agnolotti and their famous Caprese Salad, featuring dehydrated olive oil, perfectly seasoned tomatoes and basil oil- I could go back for that dish every week.
The key with their food is balance. The Barolo grill always delivers dishes that have an elegant balance of salt, fat, acid and heat. They typically layer texture, flavor and color to create a symphony for your senses. And when paired with the right wine, you're in for a treat.
Wine
The staff at Barolo Is quite exceptional when It comes to wine and cocktails for pairing with your food. Whether you decide to do an arranged pairing or want to share a glass, they are quite accommodating with their massive selection of Italian/ European wines to pair fantastically with your food.
Pro-tip- ask your server for help if you need it and if you are looking to talk to a sommelier, they have one on staff at all times! I typically always ask for a recommendation and they always deliver.
Overall, this restaurant slaps. It will always scratch your celebration meal itch. The restaurant is not inexpensive, but worth every penny for a special night out. They just make you feel like family when you are there. The staff are well education and happy to be there. They all share tips so everyone is helpful and spends time with you. You You will not regret this Michelin Guide Italian food at Barolo Grill.
Each year, they shut the restaurant down for 2 weeks and take the entire staff to a different region of Europe for fun, food education and exploring. This perk has kept this place special for a long time and hopefully, much longer down the road in the Denver.
